The Florida Stop Common Core Coalition is a rapidly growing, statewide organization that has united parents, grandparents, teachers, small business owners, and concerned citizens from many points on the political, religious, and philosophical spectra. We are all united in our opposition to the Common Core system of standards, tests, and data collection because that system will harm the quality of education in Florida, violate our children's, families', and teacher's privacy rights, deny state sovereignty and local control, and be unsustainably expensive. Executive Director - Dr. Karen Effrem is a pediatrician, researcher, and conference speaker. Dr. Effrem's medical degree is from Johns Hopkins University and her pediatric training from the University of Minnesota. She has provided testimony for Congress, as well as in-depth analysis of numerous pieces of major federal education, health, and early childhood legislation for congressional staff, state legislatures, and many organizations. Dr. Effrem serves on the boards of two national organizations: Education Liberty Watch and the Alliance for Human Research Protection. She is a former board member of The International Society for Ethical Psychiatry and Psychology. She has spoken at numerous state and national conferences. She has been interviewed by Fox News and interviewed by or quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the British Medical Journal, National Journal, Bloomberg News, Politico, WorldNetDaily, NewsMax, CNSNews.com, newspapers, radio and television stations across the country. Dr. Karen Effrem and her husband Paul, have three children. |

Randy Osborne is a political consultant for Victory 360, a lobbyist for Acclaim Strategies, and is director of education for Heartland Research. He currently serves as chairman of the Marion County Republicans, but has extensive experience working on and coordinating many campaigns from local to national, including Ronald Reagan, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and the Florida marriage amendment. He has been a coordinator for many organizations including the Teenage Republicans, the Florida Policy Council, and the Christian Coalition. Randy has developed an educational and get out the vote network with over 300 area churches and spoken in over 200 churches about various topics, including the Church's interaction with government and developing a Christian worldview. He received a BS degree from Tennessee Temple University in business administration with a minor in Bible and a BA from Western Illinois University. Randy and his wife Ann have two children. |
